Make sue you get it welded if you're going to ride the bike without the faring, I ended up losing mine so had to get another made up.
I used the other side as guidance to get the end bits machined...

None of the basic servicing is particularly difficult if you make sure you know what you're doing first, take your time with it and have the right tools.
