Re: The trackday thread.
GP circuit, presumably, if the limit was 102? Best thing to do is go racing, then it's a 105dB limit everywhere!

Nah, that's not an issue until you're trying to upgrade from Clubman to National.

Re: oulton park
Are you still on a novice licence? If so, all you need for a signature is a finish in any race that day. Position and time aren't relevant.
Wish it was that easy on a clubman licence - the bloke...

Re: oulton park
Ah. I'm not on a twin, I'm running an R6 in the pre-injection 700 class. But yeah, I love the wet - everyone else slows down much more than I do, so I get my best results. Should be at Combe both...

Spoilt by rain? Wet track time is about as much fun as it's possible to have with your clothes on!

Re: oulton park
Only just seen this. Yeah, I was at Oulton, had a cracking day. Beat my best time from last year in practice, took a full ten seconds off my practice time (!) in the qualifier, and then the heavens...

Re: Donington
I'll be #49 - just updated my avatar to a snap from Cadwell, so the bike should look like that unless I bin it (again) at Oulton.

Re: Donington
Nah, pre-injection R6.
You can get sigs any time, just pop down to the race office with old result sheets. You can even post the results off to the ACU without sigs on the card if need be, so long...

Re: Donington
The heavens opened just before the race before mine, which was great because I bloody love the wet. Got my best result of the season so far, and my first sig towards a national licence.
Would have...

Re: Snetterton 4th April.
Riding on full wets for the first time is a quasi-religious experience. I used to be wary of riding on a wet track, and now I actually look forward to it raining. Just about the best fun I've had on...

Re: road racing
Not as such. They normally run two Newcomer races, one with two classes (under 500c, and Minitwins) and one Open for everyone else. Sometimes, as on Saturday, they run a single race with all three...

Re: road racing
I was down on power compared to bigger and newer bikes. In my own class (pre-injection 700) I was fine on that front. We share a grid with the 1300 class, hence all the R1s, but I'm not actually...

Re: road racing
Bit of a mixed bag, but more fun than expected given the weather.
The test day on Friday was near freezing, and I thought hard about skipping the first session, as most others did, but opted to...

Re: road racing
I didn't test at Pembrey, but I'll be at Brands this weekend (and every round after that if all goes well) on an R6 running number 49 in PI and Newcomers.
If you're marshalling, I kinda hope we...

Re: Castle Combe Grand National
I was a bit hard to find in the paddock. I was facing inward on a grass area, nowhere near tarmac.
Grid positions went 44, 42 and 35, so worked my way up. Got absolutely murdered by the likes of...

Re: track day newbie here
Great in the wet on the road and great in the wet at track pace are very different things.
It's a good point actually - in this climate, a proper set of wets is probably the best investment you...

Re: track day newbie here
Get a set of Racetech warmers from Holroyd. They're no more expensive than a used set from eBay and they work. No need for adjustable temps, you just need a thermostat that'll keep them at a steady...

Re: Castle Combe Grand National
You're not numpties. You're just a bit odd. Spending two days at a circuit and neither racing nor drinking all day. That's just weird.
Still, glad you do it, otherwise we wouldn't be able to.

PI 700 on a black R6 running number 49. I shouldn't be too hard to spot, I'll be wobbling round at the back wearing a natty orange bib.

Castle Combe Grand National
Plug time:
This time next week it's the Grand National bike meeting at Castle Combe, near Chippenham. The only two-wheeled race meeting at Combe this year, it also happens to be the next round of...
