Re: 2000 sv650 won't start

So a curvy SV doesn't have a tip over switch, if the bike goes over it should dump its float bowls and thus stop running (though this doesn't always happen). Also if the main fuse is blown bridging...

Re: Crank shaft swap. injected for Carby

Not sure the years unfortunately. I just remember reading that the first injection engines occasionally suffered on the generator side. Might be worth checking the part numbers out across the years,...

Re: Crank shaft swap. injected for Carby

Later injection crank would be good, but you will still have the same bearing and thrust measure and install as you would with the curvy crank swap.

Swapping the top end and the associated bit is...

Re: Crank shaft swap. injected for Carby

I have looked into this myself and from what I could discover yes it should fit straight in as they are essentially the same item. However you will need to ensure that the bearing shells are the...

Re: ABS Defeat Switch

Interesting and reasoned.

Would be like to read a follow up once you make the changes and a guide of how you did this...

I'm intrigued, having ridden bikes with and without ABS I have my own views on the technology...

But what is your reason for wanting to do this?

Re: Poor running after cam chain swap

Throttle bodies/ injectors, are they seated correctly with no air leaks?

And why were you swapping the cam chains?

Are you running the standard cam chain tensioners?

What did you remove and...

Re: Poor running after cam chain swap

The first thing I'd be interested in is what was dropping into your drain bucket of oil?

Next I'd look at the injectors, are the on properly? Same question for the airbox and suchlike, what did...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

If you have found play in the main bearings in short, that engine is done I'm sorry to say.

If you were to continue to run the engine it will get worse as it wears more. At the moment other parts...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

From your videos the tension on the front cam chain looks fine. Yes there is a little more slack in the rear but there wasnt any rock in the cam shaft when you pressed the chain so I wouldn't be so...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

A loose spark plug can make some nasty noises as you won't have the correct compression, the air fuel mixture will be out, and it may not be sparking when needed. But then like I say its hard to...

Re: 2001 SV650 Engine Diagnostic Help

Its never easy to diagnose an engine fault from a video clip over the internet, but I've heard SV engines like that before and its not been a good outcome. However to be sure you will have to strip...

Re: SV not running right

Hard to be sure from remote diagnostics, but I would suspect an air leak at some point. If you have balanced the carbs are you sure that you've blanked off the balance connectors fully and there are...

Re: Trx 850

Rode a mates TRX many years ago. Was very impressed with it. Good power and handling and it felt small. Downside I found was it wasn't that comfortable in the seat. But on the plus side very ripe for...

Re: 99 sv650n worm drive failure?

It seizes and snaps your clutch cable 60 miles from home.

As the above, go through the adjustment routines and lube the worm up good.

Re: Fuel tank refresh- torque settings?

Fixed for you, no charge.

No. If you're going to go for carbon it should only be the real stuff, and even then carbon should be known and not seen.

Re: Project: 500GP

Well it looks like I haven't been working on the bike, and well yes that is correct. However in my defence I have had a reasonable reason that will all become clear in a later update. In summary...

Re: Just add lightness

Depends on what you class as "massive hp gains", what you want from your bike, and how much money you want to spend?

There is lots that can be done to the engine. Cam swaps, porting, flowing, big...
