Re: Vintage film cameras

Hmm interesting, I may take a punt. After all, a man can't have enough broken cameras. I think Goethe said that.

You could ask Tony if he has something, or if one of these fits

Re: Trx 850

I rode one not long after getting my 650. Don't rev so much (8k I think redline), only 5 fairly high gears, agricultural forks even compared to the SV. Give it a go by all means but don't commit...

Re: 99 sv650n worm drive failure?

Nope, slacken the cable right off then adjust the screw, then adjust the cable to get the biting point right. My clutch has always been unpredictable in terms of where the biting point is, despite...

Re: What to do?

My 1999 curvy has more like 50k miles on it, and while it's reliable, the age is showing. I guess some of them are related to mileage though, for example the main connector started to burn out on the...

Re: How long to pass a car?

IAM say never break the speed limit, RoSPA say get the overtake done as quickly as possible. While speed cameras have no powers of reasoning, a copper would be hard pressed to want to book you for...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Sold the Ensign 820 today, ebay to a guy in China via the global shipping programme. Hopefully this is not a black hole! Or at least hopefully I'm sufficiently insured.

Re: Vintage film cameras

What speed do you think it fires at? It's a Compur shutter I think, from google. Fizzing means it's reacting, just watch out for other metal bits tarnishing. Really though vinegar is 5% acetic acid...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Nope, K1000 long gone. Don't force the battery cover, take the bottom plate off and soak it in WD40. I forced the one on my MX and has to reattach it tot he plate, a right faff. You can dissolve rust...

Re: Vintage film cameras

You can take it all with you and sort it out later. There's as much truth in that as saying you'll buy a camera and sell it later if it'[s not your favourite. Years can go by before all boxes are...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Cool! If this is your first time, then be prepared for a hefty chunk of what a friend of mine described as post-coital depression - you'll realise you've signed for a big chunk of money and will...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Sounded like a bit of a fudge. Could you fit the old lens to the new shutter though? The fittings are a sort of standard size aren't they?

Look at it this way, someone put it together! I doubt it's impossible. Never done it though.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Are you sure it's broken, not just displaced? The screw on the main lever has certainly seen some action, unless it was you then you're not the first person to get in here. Best option would be to...

Nasty piece of junk! Oh the irony. Anyhoo... dunno if I said, but I may have found some new lenses for my Mamiya Six Automat folder. I've asked a few questions of the seller (in Japan) and hopefully...

Re: Vintage film cameras

So from the button or the shutter itself? Any difference between the two? It's a folding one, isn't it?

Re: Vintage film cameras

Sounds like a loose part inside, try it face down and upside down as well, just for completeness. Something must be failing to engage. Are you using the button as the shutter release or the one on...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Nice pics. Check the linkage for the shutter on the Perkeo, I can't remember the details now but I thought there was something loose or missing when I had it? I told you about it and I've forgotten...
