Re: What to do with a stripped engine?

So you have options of changing the crank and rods but thats expensive. Busa pistons need a rebore. Cam swapping is easy as is changing them for race tuned sets, removing the middle plate of the head...

Re: engine crash bungs

I don't know the exact model of crash bung personally, but from the times I've removed crash bars and engines from SV's I'd say no additional support needed. Just do it one bolt at the time if its a...

Re: Project: 500GP

Yep still going, still taking up a fair bit of my spare time and my front room.

Well tonight I managed to finish the remaining gear linkage rods. So here they all are:

Re: Project: 500GP

Well since the lockup ended and the workshop reopened I've been trying to get in as much as I can, but as usual its a question of finding the time around everything else particularly work as I've...

Re: Old Singer sewing machine

My Mum had an old Singer of some description. Lovely bit of machinery and supported our family for 30+ years. A couple of years back she sent it to a charity shop. I'd not really used it and have no...

Re: Curvy taper head bearing not fitting

I had the same thing when I did mine, apparently many years ago now...

Check this (http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=2582033&postcount=32) out.

In summary, not a problem.

Re: Curvy clock sweep!

Yes, from experiance an undercharged battery or incorrect voltage etc can do funny things to the SV's dash.

My advise, charge the battery and check the bikes charging system.

Re: ZXR400 Rev counter wiring anyone??

Can't help with the wiring, but just want to ask... Why use a ZXR400 rev counter, whats wrong with using the stock SV one?

Re: Fork oil options

It was a while ago now but yeah the difference was night and day. I thought I'd put something together wrong, it just didn't ride right, the feedback was all wrong. Took the bike out and came...

Re: Fork oil options

I would ask KTech or experiment myself.

From my experience stock is 10W but is far too soft, so use 15W. I did this on my first SV, transformed the handling. My second SV came with Ohlins front...

Re: Project: 500GP

So while we're all still lockedup I don't have a lot to do on the YSR project bike as with the workshop out of action I can't play with the big machines so I've reduced myself to playing with...

Re: SV650 Build

If the engine has been tuned by JHS, and this is usually true for most engine tuners there will be some sort of identification mark stamped or engraved into the engine. I had a JHS tuned head pass...

Re: Project: 500GP

Time for something more interesting than cables, fairings. I'll start with the rear. The fairing is a straight copy of the original, all the rivets from the mounting points are their which is good as...

Re: Project: 500GP

So the throttle cable, this has been giving me more trouble than I thought.

My original plan was to use a quick action throttle and had one sent over from TCR, but I didn't like the look of it....

Re: Project: 500GP

I thought I could do no more to the rearsets while in quarantine but I was wrong. The only thing I have missing was the linkage connecting to the engine. In the earlier pictures I have been using the...

Re: Project: 500GP

And now for the ignition system.

Re: Project: 500GP

So with work on the rearsets paused, my thoughts turn to induction.

Starting with the reed block I've opted for a set of dual...

Thanks I'm happy with how things are going at the moment.

So I tried the left rearset on the bike for the first time. And it looks good I think.
