Mouse Proofing Air Box (Pointy)

Hi,

Has anyone had problems with mice getting into the airbox? I had an incident in the past with my Honda CBR600 which was normally parked outside, the little buggers just about filled the...

Optimate Battery Connection Lead (old type) Free

Hi,

I have one of the older type Optimate battery connection things, I would have said unused but there are little scratches on the rings so maybe it was fitted. I can't remember. Crimps are 6mm...

Re: SV650S L2 Brake Hoses

On compatibility, the answer from Hel is that the three model ranges differ only in the length of the front hoses, the fittings are the same.

Re: SV650S L2 Brake Hoses

That's a valid point, there's nothing wrong with the original hoses if they're in good condition. The biggest difference I've found is making sure the calipers are completely clean and free. However...

Re: Quiet exhaust

I was certainly aware when I was swapping them over, but the weight isn't noticeable (to me) when riding. I was a bit concerned before, my previous K6 had a carbon fibre Remus can that although...

Re: SV650S L2 Brake Hoses

Thanks. Particularly your picture hel3 answers one of my questions, you've been able to route both lines through the single clip on the lower bracket. I'm not particularly expecting improved...

Re: SK3 fork oil level, weight and general confusion

Surely replacing just the dust seals won't fix an oil leak.

Re: Quiet exhaust

My Pointy L2 came with a rather noisy can. Too noisy for me to the extent I felt really self conscious in traffic. The seller also included the original standard exhaust so I've swapped back to that...

SV650S L2 Brake Hoses

Hi,

I need to replace the brake hoses. From what I have seen it appears everyone tends to go for the "race" pattern at the front, with two full length lines and a double banjo at the master...

Re: Advice on front fork springs

I blocked mine with epoxy. However when I temporarily used a different set of forks I simply dropped in the emulators with no damper rod mods. I didn't detect a bit difference to be honest. The holes...

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

I don't have the marked up sketch in front of me at the moment, but the changes I was considering would leave the clutch switch operation unchanged from an ECU point of view. Unless the switch...

Re: Fork oil options

My understanding is that oil weight will depend on the spring rate. So a heavier spring, as you have, matches thicker oil.

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

Hi,
I thought I'd updated the thread, sorry. I tested exactly as suggested, next time it didn't fire straightaway I kept the starter button down and clutch held in, and jiggled the clutch lever. ...

Re: Will an R1 front master cylinder fit?

Normal if they're new pads, not really if you're refitting the existing one. However check again after a few miles before worrying. What I sometimes do is try to avoid using the front brake for a...

Re: Will an R1 front master cylinder fit?

You could try a bolt and nut through the disconnected banjo end, with washers either side. You don't need the seal to be perfect, as long as it allows some pressure be developed for a second or so.

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

Thanks. I think replacing the clutch switch might make sense as a precaution.

I might also look at bypassing the side stand switch, or maybe the whole side stand relay stuff. I don't like the...

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

Well this isn't going according to plan, although not necessarily a disaster. I couldn't get it to fail at all at the weekend, so was not able to do any troubleshooting. Looking back there were a...

Re: Putting standard can back on

I sealed mine with a little smear of high temperature silicone. I suspect it's not high temperature enough, but even if that's the case the burned remnants are clearly enough to seal the joints. I...

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

The lights are switched off directly by a second normally closed contact on the starter button. So they switch off any time that button is pressed, irrespective of any interlock on the starter...

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

Thanks, that's interesting. I didn't really think the clutch switch likely, as the only way I get the bike to start when it's in the mood is by switching off and back on. Not by repeatedly pulling...

Re: SV650 Bogging down upon quick throttle response

At MOT last year I got the dealer to check valve clearances and balance TBs. I completely forgot about the effect on TPS until I was messing around and set Dealer Mode for another reason. It was...

Intermittent Starter Problem - 650 Pointy

Hi,

I've been having a few issues recently where the starter doesn't work until I switch off and back on a few times, either the ignition or the stop switch. It varies - Monday morning it needed...

Re: SV650 Bogging down upon quick throttle response

I think part of the problem is that the TPS is on the rear throttle body, rather than the one directly controlled by the throttle cable. So it's dependent on any backlash in the linkage, and also...

Re: Will an R1 front master cylinder fit?

Pretty much the same here, except I start with the jar empty. No real need for fancy one way valves or anything since you can reach the bleed screw with one hand and the brake lever with the other. ...
