Re: Adjust throttle, less on/off switch like?

V-twins tend to have a lot of engine braking compared to IL4s of similar capacity, is this maybe what you are experiencing?

Re: No shims on new style front calipers

There are supposedly better modern alternative to copper grease, copper grease has been used on brakes for many years (at least the last 30-40 years) with no evidence to suggest it's causing failures.

Re: Super heavy clutch pull (Snapped clutch cable)

The grooves in the actuator mechanism wear, and even with new balls they don't work so well. The clutch on my fathers curvy was uncomfortably heavy despite a new cable and a cleaned, greased and...

Re: Curvy power problems

Batteries simply don't work as well in the cold, and the impact of low temperatures becomes far more noticeable when the battery is nearing the end of it's life. As others have mentioned, measuring...

Re: Underwater SV

Have you drained and flushed the fuel tank? Also replace the fuel filter.

If you get it running, plan on stripping and cleaning/replacing:

Wheel bearings
Swing arm spindle
Rear...

Re: Stator test with low voltage output

Is it a genuine Shindengen regulator? There are loads of Chinese copies around.

Re: Windshield noise advice needed

No amount of messing with screens and helmets is going to lower noise enough to prevent hearing damage. It's earplugs or hearing loss in the long term.

Re: Burning my cap out

The cheap Chinese ebay regs are a big gamble and not worth it IMO. Some people have had luck with them, plenty have not and some of the regulators have little but sand inside them...

Re: Anyone tried EBC "V" Semi-Sintered Pads

Sintered pads designed for road use have loads of bite from cold (more than organic pads IME), they are not like race pads that need warming up.

Re: Another non starting curvy

:p There's really not much to debate about on old stuff, standard unleaded is fine in terms of octane rating and likely won't give problems on a regularly used bike. For old carburettored machines...

Re: 2005 oil loss with slight scratchy noise rear cyl.

It may have pushed a load of oil out through the engine breather when you had your accident. Might be worth checking inside the air box for excess oil.

Re: Another non starting curvy

That makes no sense at all, it's like saying top quality engine oil resists high temperatures better so it must degrade more quickly.

The fuels you should ideally be avoiding on old...

Re: Tapered bearing dilemma

Use genuine bearings and seals, I'm not a fan of tapered bearings in steering stems. The difference between too loose and tight enough to introduce considerable friction is very small, they don't...

Re: Another non starting curvy

My dad very rarely uses his curvy these days and when he does it's always difficult to start and won't idle as the pilot jets seem to be extremely prone to blocking up on them.

Re: Quick Shift

FWIW any remotely modern car gearbox is constant mesh as well, the difference is instead of dog clutches there are synchroniser hubs. You have to go back many years to the days of "crash boxes" to...

To be fair they are pretty much identical apart from minor styling differences. The B120 engine is still stamped B100 as you say. When I was around 10-11 years old my father bought what I always...

Love it! Spent months trying to find a decent seat for my B120 (which yours is, B100P had the lovely chrome/rubber tank panels), and eventually found a new/old stock one in Canada though it cost a...

Re: Pointy SV650 Footpeg/Brake Pedal Bolt keeps getting loose

If your brake light switch was screwed down so far that it prevented the pedal returning fully, then loosening or tightening the pivot bolt wouldn't help.

Re: Pointy SV650 Footpeg/Brake Pedal Bolt keeps getting loose

You could just use some emery paper or maybe even coarse wet and dry paper on a flat, hard surface. It's an alloy lever so not hard to remove material. At a pinch you could probably even scrape it...

Re: Pointy SV650 Footpeg/Brake Pedal Bolt keeps getting loose

The brake pedal shouldn't bind up up when you fully tighten the foot peg bolt. Is it the original Suzuki brake lever or an after-market part? If the latter then you may need to take a file to the...
