Re: I want a pay rise

One of the guys at work identifies as a cat.
He started demanding food and was last seen sleeping in my chair.

I want a pay rise

I identify as someone who earns more than I do, maybe as a lottery winner.

Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

So far 99 RON fuel had only given me 0.7% better consumption. That's within the margin of error and is not significant.

Waste of money I'd say.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Insurance companies.
The usual complaint that they are shisters. You agree dates for premium payments but then find they try taking money early. Every month. Then one month the money isn't there...

Re: Rear preload for a lighter rider?

I've always worked on the assumption the suspension has to cover three possibilities. One up riding, one up with luggage, two up with luggage. And the range of suspension has to allow for these. ...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Why didn't anyone tell me that chain cleaner is really good at cleaning chain grease off the bike?

I know, it seems obvious now. I now have a clean rear wheel

Re: Rear brake hardware

Iirc rear caliper spares are like hen's teeth. Usually you need to buy a whole assembly

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

What tosh.
So, you run a small business churning widgets. You created this company from an idea you had at the kitchen table. You know how to churn widgets.
The day arrives when you need someone...

Re: AL7 at 20,000 miles

Seriously, the Kriega packs have webbing straps that fit to the sub frame and feed out from under the seat. Had them fitted to my SK5 and SK8. Now fitted to the F800R. It's a 10 minute job to fit...

Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

And that makes my point. Seemed perkier doesn't quantify, and the approach of good enough mpg avoids the facts bit too.

The fuel companies say you get more miles to the tank, but don't quantify...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

I think I'm weird.

Putting the winter lining in my jacket satisfies me.
Chill in the air and clear blue skies. Bike cleaned, chain cleaned and lubed.
Hmmm, heated bar grips.

USB socket...

Re: AL7 at 20,000 miles

The last two SV I had did 99000 and 69000 miles. The latter is still going I believe.

To get luggage on the back use some webbing straps and either tie off to the sub frame under the pillion seat...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Are you sitting on a used car tyre in the street while the kids play on the pavement? If not, don't complain. I had kids go to one of those.
I soon got an urgent phone call and we had to leave.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Sadly armed robbers don't worry about 'No Moped' signs and wheelchair users tend to complain about steps etc.

Video surveillance is great for watching it over again and, boy, do we have cameras!

Re: Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

What no one seems to relate back is how much performance improves. As the fuel is 4% more expensive at the moment I want to see at least that as a performance improvement in mpg. Otherwise it's a...

Bike expenditure app - Roadtrip

I've been using Roadtrip on my iPhone to track bike expenditure for the last 10 years and have only just found a whole load of functions I didn't know existed.

At long last I have a way of doing...

Rear brake still sticking after servicing.

How warm is 'warm?'

Is it ouch to touch, or a hold it and it seems warm? Or is it that your finger prints stick to the disc, fry and don't come off hot?

Is the disc turning blue?

Re: Rear brake still sticking after servicing.

Are both pads dragging, or only one? Are the pads striking the disc square?

If the pads are dragging too much they get the disc so hit the heat then starts causing the problem to get worse. After...

Re: Handguards for 2016-

Looks just like a Hilti expanding anchor fixing to me. Should be able to tighten right up, but it won't undo without a tap with a hammer and drift.

The same people drive in to work with bikes filtering through stupidly small gaps (and I'm on one of them). Why...
