Re: Hi from new member - I want to do a cafe racer

HI Alex,

I've been away so sorry for the slow reply; sounds cool. I'll have a good read through and comment back. Running into some management issues with an outright "No" from my wife so I may...

Re: Hi from new member - I want to do a cafe racer

Hi GT Alex,

Sounds equally interesting. I am still waiting on budgetary approval but have a reasonably good idea of what I want to achieve. Have you made your own subframe and seat unit or used/...

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

£30 sounds like a bargain to me. I probably cannot spell Ackroponic or whatever it is so I assume this one cannot either?!

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

Thanks SVB,

Both look good, especially the latter. I like the way you have got that headlight tucked right in, I shall take a look on your build thread and see how you did that. What gauges are...

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

That has been an inspiration; actually I'll ask them as they are very happy to chat about their builds.

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

I agree Chris. A weight saving is always useful though so the small stubby looks like a good option. I could balance the weight loss by doing the different chain and sprocket option on the other...

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

Food for thought. Just need to get executive approval on my project (my wife ;-)) and then I can get to it. I suppose one of those really stubby little pipes (looks more like an exhaust trim than a...

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

It's a conundrum isn't it?! which is why I like to think about this stuff before doing anything. Maybe triangulate off of the front peg fitting?

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

Thanks Riff,

That looks good. Is there any way it could have gone lower and less far back or would it start getting in the way of your leg?

Cheers,

David

Re: Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

Thanks Craig,

Do you have to trim the link pipe to suit? All the ones I have seen when I try searching seem to hang low down off of the rear peg hanger?

Is there a low mounted GP/ stumpy exhaust for curvy SV?

I have been searching all over the place and have a seen a few fuzzy pictures but are there any good/ affordable small silences that can mount near the swing arm on the curvy SV. Sorry if there is a...

Re: Hi from new member - I want to do a cafe racer

Fantastic read! I took a few hours to go through it yesterday. I laughed at his comment regarding the US riders huge garages and tool sets. My equivalent is a shed though I do have a bench, power...

Re: Hi from new member - I want to do a cafe racer

Thanks Darren,

Much appreciated; I love reading through and finding out how people did things. There are some really nice bits to this bike though I would have tried to mount the headlight closer...

Hi from new member - I want to do a cafe racer

Hi Everyone,

Just joined and will be lurking a bit as I am thinking of doing a cafe racer using the curvy SV as the base. So all the usual questions as I try to work out whether what I want to do...
