Re: Reaction Engines

Perhaps they should bolt one on to Bloodhound - another project I keep half an eye on and am very glad to see is back up and pushing the speed boundaries.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Lady Poppy and The Monkey bought me a top from, well, TopMan for Chrimbo and I found the same. Took it back (they kept the receipt) and I had a heck of a job to find a replacement that was not...

Re: World's Smallest Mudguard award goes to...

The front 'guard on the Speed Twin is equally short and lacking in protection qualities. Fitting an extender to it would look silly as it would have to be very long to be effective.

I was given...

Re: what lies beneath

I rather hope you don't have any gremlins getting in to your wiring as any qualified Sparks would have to rectify all of that highly dubious rats nest as part of any fix, however minor.

Re: Is it normal to pay in advance?

I was shocked to be told I had to pay the balance owing on a car I'd paid a deposit on three days before going to pick it up. Considering they were meant to repair a dent first to my satisfaction I...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

This is why I always work through an agency - it makes me more expensive to the client but the agency has to pay me regardless of when the client pays them. Not surprisingly I only work for well...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Almost a gripe of the day. Arrived at the Ford dealer this morning to pick up my new (well, 7 month old) Focus only to find it seemed to be covered in stone chips. It's a smile as the look of utter...

Re: Willpower

These vehicles are certainly amazing from an engineering perspective but apart from the few people with a fortune made in the oil business that like wasting their money on mine's-bigger-than-yours...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

We all hate that Mav. I have agreed to buy a new(er) car now, same model but without all the useless options the over-priced one had, and I'm quite happy, even though I could probably have gotten a...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Nearly had that with a car I ended up not buying. Something in my head said, no, it's more than you set out to pay even if it is within budget. My inner accountant I suppose (to go with the outer...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Try three times! Several Miele's are are well over 1,400 as they're basically commercial machines packed a little differently. The Samsung one we plumped for is just over a third of that price.

Re: If you ever wondered ...

I'm not convinced that chicken version was not helped along by some additional tracks added via a keyboard, although judging from the way he was holding it the poor thing seemed to have tuning holes...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

My gripe de jour is washing machines. Or more especially the way ours was plumbed in by the builders who added our extension 12 years ago. The machine is now over 25 years old and when the sockets...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I remember those UMG's. They said said to steer clear of the GSX250E after 30k miles but mine kept going to well over twice that without any engine issues. Won't go into the electrical ones...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

If you had agreed to buy a fully reconditioned bike then I would have rejected it by now. Getting your cash back from a reasonably small shop is another matter. If they sell it for you will the...

Re: The all new slap bang up to date photo of the day 2019!

The obruT sticker is fantastic - saw one once back in the day out on the road and was fascinated that it would be printed backwards like that.

Oddly, as I grew up not ten miles from this place, I...

Re: The All New Megathread

Oh flip was that a rubbish day. See the "What have you done" thread as I cannot be fekked to type it all again. It must be Jameson's o'clock by now.
