Re: K-tech front springs and spacer length

Another good tip, thank you! I hadn't considered that at all.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I got the SV all together and went for a spin. It's the first ride since redoing the suspension: New linkage bearings. New-to-me, freshly serviced ZX10 shock. And new oil and springs in the front....

Re: If you're ever concerned that thrashing your bike might hurt the engine ....

Stunting has rubbed me up the wrong way. I've ridden with guys who can wheelie like legends *and* lap quickly, and they don't have to trash their bikes.

Re: Cam covers after valve clearance check - RTV, Hylomar, Wellseal?

Yep, if the gaskets are intact they shouldn't need any extra sealant.

Re: We know this...

Thank you for those links. Sent me down an hour of reading about crankshaft design. So awesome! I wish I'd trained as a MechEng.

Pointy clutch cover gasket - RTV for water pump?

Morning all. The stock gasket has pre-applied sealant around the water pump inlet and outlet. My replacement gasket is just flexoid (gasket card). Should I apply from RTV around the water pump...

Re: Fork oil options

Bibio has recommended 100mm (without springs or spacers) in another thread. That's what I used.

Re: Fork oil options

I am confnoozled: we have people recommending 10w and 15w oil in this thread and 7.5w oil being perfect in this thread: https://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=3114775

Is that due to differences...

Re: Gear shift problems - confusion

I have a theory. I took the sprung shift-star cam stop off and rotated the crank by hand and all the gears select perfectly turning the shift star. I put the sprung cam stop back on and still, all...

Re: Gear shift problems - confusion

Thank you, I found that a while ago. His solution was to replace everything! Which is spendy. I'd really love to know what's wrong before I go that route.

Gear shift problems - confusion

Hi all. I've had my naked SV for two-and-a-half years. Commuting and trackdays. It hasn't skipped a beat. For context, I did have a highside at Bedford in 2018, which snapped the right-hand footrest...

Scratchy/notchy gearshifts

Afternoon all. I thought an oil change might help, but it hasn't. My 14k mile 05 pointy does not shift gear as smoothly as I'd like. Quite often there isn't a smooth travel of the gear lever, it...

Givi rack and monokey plate for pointy SVs

Morning all. I've somehow ended up with two Givi rack systems for my SV. So one is up for grabs. It's the two arms that bolt to the SV's subframe, a monokey plate, mounting hardware and instructions....

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Okay, so I had this measured at Bedford on Monday. It's 95dB with the baffle in it. So about 100dB without. Plenty loud.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

After jumping off the SV and damaging my blue flame can, I put one of these on. Holy hell it is loud! Have you had it measured, Bibio? I don't think I'm going to pass noise testing. :/

Re: new Suzuki Katana

It's a Peregrine falcon, afaik. So not so prosaic unfortunately. It's just bloody fast.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I had exactly this recently and it turned out one of the big banjo bolts into the bottom of the oil cooler was a bit loose. So have a look there, perhaps?

Re: MCE Insurance

Bikesure are also the only people who'll insure me, being new to the country. Very polite on the phone, too.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Over the weekend I finished the SV up and put new tires on it. Then I did Snetterton on it yesterday and had a blast! What a capable little bike!
