Re: Fork oil options

It was a while ago now but yeah the difference was night and day. I thought I'd put something together wrong, it just didn't ride right, the feedback was all wrong. Took the bike out and came...

Re: Fork oil options

I would ask KTech or experiment myself.

From my experience stock is 10W but is far too soft, so use 15W. I did this on my first SV, transformed the handling. My second SV came with Ohlins front...

Re: Project: 500GP

So while we're all still lockedup I don't have a lot to do on the YSR project bike as with the workshop out of action I can't play with the big machines so I've reduced myself to playing with...

Re: SV650 Build

If the engine has been tuned by JHS, and this is usually true for most engine tuners there will be some sort of identification mark stamped or engraved into the engine. I had a JHS tuned head pass...

Re: Project: 500GP

Time for something more interesting than cables, fairings. I'll start with the rear. The fairing is a straight copy of the original, all the rivets from the mounting points are their which is good as...

Re: Project: 500GP

So the throttle cable, this has been giving me more trouble than I thought.

My original plan was to use a quick action throttle and had one sent over from TCR, but I didn't like the look of it....

Re: Project: 500GP

I thought I could do no more to the rearsets while in quarantine but I was wrong. The only thing I have missing was the linkage connecting to the engine. In the earlier pictures I have been using the...

Re: Project: 500GP

And now for the ignition system.

When I was dismantling the bike I noticed that the plastic casing of the coil was cracked. So...

Re: Project: 500GP

So with work on the rearsets paused, my thoughts turn to induction.

Starting with the reed block I've opted for a set of dual...

Re: Project: 500GP

I thought quarantine would give me more time, but oddly no. I'm working from home now so most of my day is filled generating beer tokens as normal and this past week I don't even know where the...

Re: Curvy top yoke.

I had a quick search of the site and found this (http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=3073645&postcount=20) post that answers most of your questions. I'd recommend doing some more searching on...

Re: Project: 500GP

Thanks I'm happy with how things are going at the moment.

So I tried the left rearset on the bike for the first time. And it looks good I think.

Re: Is this the right time to sell?

Yeah I have a Hermes delivery on the way as far as I know they are still running as well as click and collect as I picked something up from Argos in Sainsburys last week that was ordered before the...

Is this the right time to sell?

The reason I ask is that I may have spotted a bike project that interests me. Its a cool looking thing with some extra meat on the bone, but yeah its not like I have the space or the time for another...

Re: Future motogymkhana bike?

I've dabbled in Motogymkhana over the years. Its a good skills workout. The South West section is Swindon based as the chap who runs it is Rob Fox lives up here and he's quite good so not far from...

Re: Project: 500GP

The plan was to make 4 sets of rearsets, enough to have spares as well as mistakes and with the backing plates and levers completed I'd been working on pegs and spacers. With 4 sets of them made, it...

Re: Project: 500GP

Well as again there appears to be a bit of a gap between updates, but as ever I've been doing things when I get a chance. And after reaching a bit of a milestone this evening I realise its well over...

Re: Rhs indicators not working help

So I've had a similar issue with indicators on a bike that had been sitting for a while. This was a 99 SV, I suspect based on the hazard button that this is a later model SV, but the process I would...

Re: Flywheel lightening

Yeah easiest would be just to swap the engines over rather then replacing the crank and anything else thats needed. And yeah cutting the front pipe happens quite a lot with these engines when bought...

Re: Flywheel lightening

I don't know if anyone is still doing lightened flywheels on here any more, but might be worth messaging millemille just in case, I got mine from him.

However I've not heard of a 2001 model...

Re: Would 2017 front calipers be compatible with a k3

They do look identical, however checking the parts number of the caliper from a 2017 (https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/5936871/sv650-abs/front-caliper) against a K3...

Re: Will an R1 front master cylinder fit?

Perfectly normal for brakes new and old. When the brakes are on the pads are pushed against the disc, when off the pressure is released and the pads essentially stay where they are just about resting...

Re: Will an R1 front master cylinder fit?

Suzuki in their workshop manual says to use brake fluid to lube the piston seals. They also say to use silicone grease on the sliders.

I've done that before and have also used RRG on the seals...
