Re: My first pointy

Well looks like the general setting up has paid off in the economy dept. By balancing the TBs, fixing inlet air leaks, cleaning air filter and fitting new plugs and caps etc the MPG is improving by...

Re: My first pointy

I put a Venhill featherlight clutch cable on my SV. They dont use the bend the SV cable has and claim it to be a lighter action.

My vibration mainly affects my right hand. I do wonder if its...

Re: My first pointy

I've had a couple of SVs before, this being my first Pointy, but on every one I've suffered from numb fingers on my right hand. Its a well known, dare i say issue, on these bikes. If you google it...

Re: My first pointy

Scoots always look like that as the body work covers everything up so it doesn't normally get cleaned. Its getting a good dust down this time though and the connectors greased etc.

I've moved the...

Re: My first pointy

Thanks. Sorted wiring out, put the headlight brackest on the right way up, moved handlebars back and adjusted switch gear and levers and finally adjusted gear lever height. I wanted to drop out the...

Re: My first pointy

Thanks. I was actually able to fit everything inside the new headlight bucket without chopping up the loom, so it can still easily be returned to an S should a future owner want to.

Sadly the...

Re: My first pointy

I don't know if anything else is different, so will just tape one outlet up and take the feed from the other one. I think that will be easiest and reversible should the next owner want to convert it...

Re: My first pointy

Juts looked on Fowlers at te parts fiche and the S has a headlight loom where as it seems the N just has its headlight feed coming from the main loom. Shame Suzuki did it that way as it would have...

Re: My first pointy

Thanks for the links. ISTR there were a few Hondas with the big bar inserts? The bars on mine are currently Risomas and I think those and Renthals are thicker walled and wont take a lot of bar ends?...

Re: My first pointy

Well my daily hack SH300 didnt start this morning, so I fired up the Sv and headed into London on it. Springs have made a big difference in a good way, but the lack of damping is still obvious. The...

Re: My first pointy

Just been out and fitted the race tech fork springs. Fook me they are stiff, hardly any sag at all! Also fitted the foot peg lowering plates, which are really riser plates fitted on the other side...

Re: My first pointy

Sadly I have to lower the pegs or sell it. I have a dodgy knee and just can't ride it for any length of time with my leg cramped up like the standard riding position makes me.

High 30s mpg is what...

Re: My first pointy

I'm waiting on a db killer/baffle for the open exhaust and will fit that and then put some miles on it and see what it settles down to. I'm not worried about it being economical, more looking at the...

Re: My first pointy

Did a mpg check and whilst it's gone from 37 to 41 that is still very disapppointing and makes me think it's still running rich. Maybe it'll adjust/settle down over the next couple of tank fills? My...

Re: My first pointy

Well after a using it for commuting into London it seems to have settled itself down nicely. It had a perished blanking plug on the front TB and an open hole on the rear TB with no plug at all! So...

Re: My first pointy

Not used it yet as I've needed my scoo to cary stuff around, but I did manage to order some racetech front springs for it and hopefully get them fitted at the weekend! The front end is just too...

Re: My first pointy

Didn't need the wires as they did fit on okay - just! Chekced the TPS again and it was cutting in just on 1500rpm, so left it as is. Went out for a run and the bike seems fine now. Throttle roll on...

Re: My first pointy

Yup will do but sadly the new caps dont fit the standard leads, so i've got to get new leads as well, which is no bad thing.

Re: My first pointy

Just sticking the MM in the old and new plugs, I get different readings from the old to the new, but am I measuring them right?

Re: My first pointy

Ta da! They're here! If I get time over the weekend, i'll get the new plug caps on and the start again with eh balance/tps reset. TBH I doubt that'll cure the misfire, but the new plug caps might, he...

Re: My first pointy

Oh I'm enjoying it! I bought the biek to have a play about and straighten it up a bit.

Plastic maggots huh, I used to dispatch ride on a CX in the early 80s! Legendary bikes for all day riding and...

Re: My first pointy

Just found the sequence should be TB balance, then TPS set. As I couldn't balance my TBs, I did the TPS but then cleaned up the Carbtune as suggested and was able to almost balance the TBs. So I...

Re: My first pointy

Thanks for the eBay link. I'll probably order a couple up at some point. The front plug was rusty so clearly water has been getting in there and the cap itself is quite dirty, so i'll just replace...
