Re: Pointy - No Brake Lights

Well I got a chance to look at the bike last weekend.
Disconnecting the front brake switch dropped the rogue voltage to 2v and bridging the connector got the brake working again on the front...

Re: Pointy - No Brake Lights

Fantastic - thanks for the advice guys - now I know it should be 0 & 12v I'll clean/disconnect the switches at the weekend and see how I get on before trying anything else.

Re: Front brake lever free play

Leave an old pair of pads in, stops the pistons firing off! Gets the pistons past the oil seals and you can easily pull them out by hand at that point.

Was having a clear out of the pointy parts box and came across two bits I didn't recognise, any one got any ideas or are they not even from the SV? Pound coin for scale. Thanks in advance.

Re: Silly MPG

I was at 60 mpg commuting on A roads and motorway, so not hanging about either but when I moved it was 35 miles of motorway each way returning 70 mpg. I tended to shift at 6000 rpm commuting and sit...

Re: Jacket Zip Replacement

I've always used Hill4Leather (http://www.hill4leather.com/) for leather repairs, did a good job on my trouser main zip which lasted. Pretty sure you can post to them and plenty of people on here...

Re: Swing arm chain rubber thingy

It's called a "BUFFER, CHAIN TOUCH DEFENSE" and the part number is 61273-17G00 for a pointy (2003 on). Job is a bit of a pain as you have to remove the swingarm to change it. It's worth checking your...

Re: Which Fender Extender sticky or rivet? (pointy)

I've had the stick on Pyramid one on my SV for 2 years, very quick and easy to do. I am a little careful not to put too much pressure on it when cleaning, but I've not had any issues.

Re: Huggers to recommend / avoid?

I've used Pyramid huggers and fender extenders (pyramid buy the extenders from the same company that skidmarx do) on both my bikes and they've been fine.

Re: EBC vs DP brake pads for modulation?

I prefer the DP pads, to me they feel 'softer' so I can squeeze the lever harder and feel them squishing on.
The EBC feel harder and more brittle and don't have any give so they don't feel like they...

OMO Recomend me my next bike

Hi all,
I've had quite the rough week. The other half’s Corsa blew the head gasket on Sunday and now I've totalled my 2nd SV!

Without going into the nitty gritty, about 50m from home a...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

I found a dog tonight. The other half came home from work and a chiwawa just followed her through the door! The little guy was so excited that I don't know if he realised he was lost or he was hoping...

Re: Sena SMH5 intercom, any good?

I wear filtered plugs and it's just fine, have used it with normal plugs and it was audiable up to around 70/80 for satnav but it was more like 60/70 for pillion coms with my Shoei GT Air II.

Re: Sena SMH5 intercom, any good?

For a reasonably cheap headset for phone/satnav/radio/music/pillion it's fine, for group riding it's not the best as the range is short, you can only remember three other head sets (and be connected...

Re: R&G Classic Crash Bungs fitting

Both my SVs have had the engine bolts set to OEM torque and 35Nm for the bungs (when I fitted them they advised 30 to 40 Nm so I went for the middle).

Re: Scorpion Serket Exhaust

I've got the titanium one, I think it's one of the best looking ones and suits the pointy SVs style really well. Build quality is great as you would expect from a premium exhaust and sounds great....
