Re: HMRC - it's tax time again
I'm retired but the tax man never falters in pursuing their pound of flesh* goal, I guess. :(

HMRC - it's tax time again
I filled out my self assessment tax form for tax year 21-22. Prior to do doing it, I do a rough calculation as to how much tax I owe and this year it came to about £2000.
When I had completed the...

XSR700 part 2
I went ahead and traded the Kawasaki Z900RS for the Yamaha XSR700, is there any buyer's remorse? I've only put 360 miles on it and I'm limited to <5000 rpm, but no - no remorse so far. The Kawasaki...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Assuming you haven't been living in a cave for the last month, you will know that Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" has been high in the charts because of it being used in "Stranger Things".
So...

Smart phone weirdness
I received an alert from Natwest about a groupon purchase (for about £17 ish). I have never used groupon and now I can't find the alert plus no money has left my account although 4 (known)...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Weather. At the risk of applying a jinx, the weather here on the east coast (Humber estuary) has been good. Farmers are complaining because Lincolnshire generally has only had 30% of its usual...

Re: The All New Megathread
Speaking of hedgehogs... my neighbour said she'd seen one in my garden so I started putting out (dedicated) hedgehog food. Each day the food would be gone so I kept filling the small dish, finally,...

Re: Newbie but oldie! Bought a Gladius.
Hope you're on the mend.
Are you trying to avoid ordering a new one ? (44171-44H01-YVZ) Fits a 2009 to 2014 model (needs to be ordered), or are they no longer produced?

Re: A question for our American/EU colleagues
As someone who lived in the US for 20+ years it seems an odd question. Most of the time when I get on/off my bike I'm at home/at a petrol station/in a shopping centre car park/at work. Speaking as a...

Rabbits.
Just an off-the-wall post about rabbits. There seems to be a lot more of them this year, it used to be rare (rarebit? sorry) but not this year in Lincs.
Anyone else remember the pre myxomatosis...

Interpreting road tests
I've read many road tests recently and I feel a guide is needed, so here we go :)
The bike was nimble (it was twitchy)
Handling was agile (I crashed)
The suspension was sporty (you're going to...

Re: Electrical Fault?
Sorry, no I don't have a pointy. I doubt that it will be a specific point, more likely a black/white wire that loops between the various devices but will probably be in a connector under the tank.

Re: Electrical Fault?
Electrical gremlins like this are notoriously difficult to find, especially when we don't have access to the bike.
I would have speculated that it might be related to a ground/earth/negative path...

Insurance, groan.
I have a multibike policy with Hastings, I've been with them for 7 years and never claimed. Last year my policy was £198, this year £245. Hmm.
I haven't chatted with them yet, I'll wait till I...

Well, I decided to go for a 2022 XSR700. As usual I'm a hopeless negotiator judging by how quickly the dealer accepted my suggestion. I've bought it from Manchester since my local dealer couldn't...

I still put a piece of wood under my bikes propstand to keep it more vertical. It's residual memory from the carb days when a sticking float wasn't that unusual and if you didn't remember to turn...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
If BoZo's Clown Posse is sending a Boeing 767 with fewer than 11 passengers to Rwanda when it can hold 200+, the least they could do is send it via Majorca so holidaymakers with cancelled flights can...

Re: Opposite directions
Cost. A parallel twin is cheaper to produce than a V twin, plus the SV can't have its engine increased in size much more and maintain reliability (I know it's been raced as a near 700cc).
The new...

I had my test ride on the Z650RS but cancelled by ride on the Ducati - as I was riding there I just couldn't see why I'd need a large enginned bike. I've now had 3 900cc + bikes and each time...
