Re: Police Interceptor

Maybe. But from the Volvo's side how is he to know that a) the car is a 530 and not a mere 520 and will make it before the end of the slip b) the driver is going to be checking lane 2 with intent to...

Police Interceptor

Anyone watching? I think that officer that pulled off the aggressive overtaking manouevre on what seemed to be a pretty short slip road may well have got the 'ham shank' gesture from me too. To then...

Re: Tax Codes

I don't believe there is any way for Professional Subs to appear on a tax coding notice as a deduction - it would be classed as Other. I agree with you on the general taxation treatment but the...

Re: Tax Codes

Professional subscription will be an expense, not a benefit. If there's anything listed on your P11d that's not in your tax code it's probably this that's causing the underpayment. You can have an...

Re: Another recommend me a phone thread - with a difference

Sorry, nothing to contribute to your question I'm afraid but interested in your comment about parental control software - which do you use and would you recommend it?

Re: Fixed Penalty Notice - Appeal or Not?

I say appeal it. I agree with other posters that in all practical terms this will do you no good but the situation as you describe it suggests that you are going to accept a punishment without having...

Touchscreen Jukebox

Evening all,

I'm looking for some advice from the technically minded. I'd like to build a touchscreen jukebox setup that's easy to use (just like a pub jukebox). There seem to be plenty of...

Re: What do I do now?..

Could it be that the carbs are out of balance? Don't know how far out they would have to be to cause these symptoms but just a thought.

Rear Brake Caliper - is it beyond redemption?

Hi all, would appreciate some advice.

Set off on the bike yesterday (K3 naked), and found that the rear brake is delivering zero stopping power. Thought I'd best check the pads in case I've got...

Re: Which chain adjustment marker (new chain)

Not especially. I was a bit surprised when trying to stop on the way out of their car park to find that they hadn't even brought the pads back into contact with the disks...took a right few pumps on...

Re: Which chain adjustment marker (new chain)

yep, it's a genuine naked. According to Haynes naked is 45 tooth and s is 44. So, unless the front sprocket is wrong (or they've chopped half an inch off the swingarm!) i don't see what else it could...

Re: Bike knocked over by wind - insurance cover?

I tend to agree with your point - I get properly narked at the way some people throw their doors open without thought for the cars round about them (hence why I'm always the one parked furthest away...

Re: Which chain adjustment marker (new chain)

Yep, I've counted the links and there are 110 of them. Can't be totally sure about the old one as I never counted them, but I have a feeling it might have been the original chain as there was no...

Re: Bike knocked over by wind - insurance cover?

I'm not sure insurance would class this as your fault anyway - assuming you parked normally then isn't this the wind's fault and anyone who suffers damage needs to claim off their own insurance? I'm...

Which chain adjustment marker (new chain)

I just had a new chain and sprockets installed (by a dealer - don't trust myself with rivetting yet) and the chain adjustment marker seems further back than I'd have expected. It's on about the 5th...

I could drop my paddock stand off with you if it lets Bibio use his bike instead of the cage, and I could pick it up again next week.

Has your bike got swingarm bobbins? My stand's got cups and...

Re: The origin of engine braking?

On a related point, what effect does the selected gear have on engine braking? i.e. at a given speed, would I slow down more quickly if I closed the throttle in 5th or 4th?

If there was no...
