Re: Vintage film cameras

Its the Ansell Adams zone system, which equal numbers of people will decry or praise. I think maybe it's best applied only sometimes. Anyway it's potentially quite complicate but essentially says,...

Re: Electrical output

The alternator puts out about 250-300W but I'm not sure how much is left over after running the FI etc.

MoT history

Check this out, it's not a scam or a joke, honest. I didn't know you could just look up someone's MoTs.

Just tripped over it today.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Interesting about the spotty, yoko, maybe I'll seek one out. The K1000 is a bit of a brick, I get why people like a mechanical SLR but less so about that one in particular.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Which Spotmatic have you got yoko? Not shot much, put a film in the Box Tengor and took a couple, the viewfinders are a bit of a pig when the sun is shining on them! I struggled with camera shake at...

Re: Vintage film cameras

I think so, it's M42. The F was the last one, and has open-aperture metering as opposed to stop-down metering. Made around the same time I was!

Re: Vintage film cameras

No thanks, I've got a good one and a fixer-upper already! Flog it, you'll get plenty. Was eyeing up a Spotmatic F, not sure why but might bag a bargain.

Re: Curvy SV650 and the ULEZ

The point of the Euro standards is a "real world" test (flawed but nevertheless the intention is there). A spot check like at the MoT station wouldn't tell you anything about the performance really....

Re: Vintage film cameras

Looks nice. My Box Tengor came yesterday, pretty good, I can put a film straight in it. Also came with a grubby Brownie and an old Instamatic 155 like my old mam used to have, nasty piece of junk but...

Re: Curvy SV650 and the ULEZ

I just put my curvy into the vehicle checker and it says it would be charged. As you say, only official figures would count as they're by approved test methods etc. - the MoT test on cars is just a...

Re: Vintage film cameras

I got good results with both Jupiter 8 and Sonnar 50mm f2 (basically the same) on my Kiev. Much more like a "modern" SLR lens than a Tessar.

Re: Electric/Mechanical gremlins?

Could be a few things but checking the charging system first would be a good start. The new rectifier and battery should be fine but best to know. As said, a 3 mile ride is nothing so if you can...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Re. the Zeiss, it's the 6x9 Mess Ikonta, and has a red T Tessar which are unusual. The 6x6 with a Novar go for about 30, the 6x9 with any lens go for quite a lot more, more like 100 I think. My 6x6...

Re: Vintage film cameras

It's a Pentax so it'll be finicky about batteries! Also the foam under the prism cover turns to mush and can farrrk up the electronics for the meter.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Are you sure? It is on when the shutter button is half pressed. If the wind on lever is stood out then the half-pressed shutter will latch so the meter will stay on until either you take a picture or...

Re: Vintage film cameras

They're lovely little cameras. I was going to suggest the same fix as it's a common problem with them. They're an odd size though so if you want a case it has to be for the MX, an ME super one or...
