Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Did a bit of work on my SZR660 today. I managed to wire in a 6-wire Domino start/run/kill switch in place of the 4-wire original. I'm not great at electrical, and the switches function differently,...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I did behind the sprocket cover today as well -also with kerosene, and an old tooth brush. Was pretty grim behind there - don't think it'd been done before. Not sure how much of it is "mine" - I've...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Over the last few days I've:

- Installed the JP CNC rear axle...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Haha cheers, but that's about a 300 mile round trip. With my truck that's probably half the cost of a new abba stand these days :D

To be fair filing the socket was maybe 10mins of effort, and the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Filed down my over-priced castellated socket and got the corresponding swingarm nut off.

Thought I might tackle the yokes (getting new bearings and going to give the lower a coat of hammerite to...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Just to be clear(in case it's it obvious) -these are rear discs - I've got two sets of wheels.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Nah both are solid discs. The stock ones though are thicker have a larger bore (10mm) and are counter-bored which explains the shouldered bolt. The replacement discs are thinner and drilled to the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Also started disassembling my exhaust the other day, and was surprised to find this:

It never occurred to me there might be one in there (I've googled now and...

Installed these from projection-components (just the disks so far - will look at the steering bearings tomorrow):

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Removed my forks and boxed them up... Ready to send to Maxton for the full SD25 cartridge treatment. :riding:

Recently (and finally) decided to not go the GSXR route this time, and spend the £ on...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Installed Xmas bling. I still need to do the wiring for both levers, but want to get some OE-style connectors.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

If it's not a conversion, wouldn't it have been onto radial brake calipers by then?

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Cheers. I've already got a Nitron shock, and upgraded springs and oil in the forks. I did really like the feel of the GSXR front end I installed on my K5 waaay back in the day...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

True, but now these particular things are pretty old and tired - I'm a bit surprised at the prices being asked.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I'm looking at parts for a gsxr fork swap and finding prices high as well. I'm sure it was cheaper when I did it a decade or so ago, and the parts were newer and in much nicer shape than most of...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

This is from Sunday, but a few weeks back as I was getting ready for a track day, I removed the signal lights, in order to have one less thing to replace if I happened to come off. Of course the...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Agreed, though it really needed doing - not many miles in what was in there, but it had been in there a while, and was pretty grim.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Day off (extra long weekend) so started prep for Cadwell on Saturday. Oil change, installed the brake guard (turned a spacer in delrin on the lathe - still not perfect but much better fit), new...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Thanks both - I'm not a woodwork guy so much, so I was quite pleased with the results. I've built templates -so may do a couple more in softwood (the oak was expensive).

Oil-wise I used 2 coats...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Not bike related, but a little while ago I built some oak Adirondack chairs (with pull-out leg rests) and I finished oiling them this weekend - in time to enjoy yesterday's sun (and a few cold...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

So Nitron have come back and the two-part reservoir mount they offer (a generic clamp for the reservoir body, and then a presumably bike specific plate to mount to the passenger peg mounts) comes to...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Cheers! Still going to aim for the trunk, but if that doesn't work out I'll give Nitron a shout.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Cheers- I like the P-Clip idea (I'm assuming the nitron option won't be cheap if it comes to that), but I think I'm going to try and mount it in the trunk - away from any crud, and anyone who might...
