Re: Science

Science is rubbish - they still can't answer the simplest questions.

Such as which is the fastest colour?

Re: EU copyright directive reform

EU states are obliged to comply with EU directives. The only bit that isn't defined is how. So each country passes their own laws to achieve it.

Article 288 I believe.

Re: Notify current insurance about previous policies 'dismissed' claim?

They usually ask for any accidents that you've been involved in, in any vehicle under any policy in the last 5 years.

If it falls under this then declare it. Otherwise I'd say you're ok.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I feel your pain Tim. The Cloud is the latest buzz. A bit like virtualisation was about a decade ago - the "must have" thing. Now I'm not saying in the right circumstances these aren't brilliant and...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

I invested in some when I first serviced my SV brakes probably 12 or so years ago. They were still in fine condition last brake pad change before crash last year. They don't seem to corrode.

And I...

Re: if my weather was a colour...

Is it like the sea where it's always bloomin cold and when you find a warm patch you're worried someone's just had a wee?

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Yeah I've seen this tendency also. Mainly because, I think, that many large suppliers don't expect it and therefore charge the interest it'll cost them upfront included in their fees. Some places...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

I get this a lot - not just joggers but "normal" pedestrians too - often at traffic light controlled crossings (but equally often just "near" them) with queuing traffic, with headphones on, or...

Re: Pricing your bike to sell

Mods aren't worth that much on resale unless they're spectacular and the buyer actually wants them. Stock bikes often command better resale value as they haven't been messed with.

Re: Pricing your bike to sell

My first port of call would be https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bikes

You can search for similar bikes, similar condition, similar area etc. The only issue is that you get a list of the ones that...

Re: SV650 Rear Subframe

Sure it's a K3? There looks like a kink in the lower rail. K3 subframes were dead straight when viewed from the side at least.

It could be the angle of the picture. Or it could be from a K4. K5...

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

Maybe they vary (or I have a delicate hands) but mine is stiff. It improved with a new lifter and a new cable but riding daily in heavy traffic caused pain in my left hand.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?

On a pointy at least, there's a curved metal guide on the lever end of the cable. It looks treated but in fact it rusts rather badly and in a short space of time.

I fixed mine with a lick of...

Re: Cruisers

Well it will. Not because it's a daft position (which it is) but mainly cos you're not used to it.

No doubt when I've got my SV repaired and jump back on it, it will also feel really odd.

You...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Well if they can't see a huge static object right in front of them then how are they supposed to deal with a ninja cat?

Good job they don't make insurance claims

Re: Cruisers

I test rode a Rocket. Amazingly eager engine for a cruiser. Perhaps dangerously so. But it handles better than mine too. But still not a lot of use in London traffic.
