I had exactly this on my Kwak and it turned out to be crud in the left hand footpeg assembly stopping the gear lever pivoting smoothly so I was left with 1st, Neutral and 2nd. I'm not sure the SV suffers this as much as the kwak but if you undo the gear linkage from the gear lever and see if the lever moves smoothly it may help?
Only takes a couple of minutes to check.
