Default My good deed, I must be ill

Well the rain had eased and Jasper was making all sorts of noise to indicate he wants to go for a stroll.

Off we go, he does his business I clean up and bin and we are on the way home when it starts to rain again. In the distance I can see a single headlight stopped at the side of the road as I approach the rider gets off his bike and pushes it into the bus stop to shelter, looking at the back wheel.

"Are you having problems?". "The chain has come off". I stop whilst he wraps it over the back sprocket but it is obvious off the front as well. I tell him my initial diagnosis and he looks at me and says it is Tim isn't it. Bloody hell the fighting dwarf, last time I saw him was being escorted out of a kebab house in Blackpool on a mates stag night by two coppers after he attacked 3 lads who took the poverbial out his lack of inches about 20 years ago.

So a few minutes chat and he gets out his pitiful tool kit, but nothing to fit the bolts on the front cover of his little GN125. I only live round the corner so he pushes it to my house and into garage. Minute later cover is off, chain on. But obvious why it had come off, there must have been 6 inches of slack. I showed him how to adjust the chain by slackening off the rear wheel. 3.5 turns of either side adjuster and tighten back up.
Gave him a bollocking for the lack of maintenance and dire warnings what could have happened

Gave him the names and address of two independant bike mechanics to give it a well needed service. I asked if had recovery, no.

I only hope that should I ever be unfortunate enough to be broken down, a well meaning local will look after me.
