The lockset is slightly more than that (I think about £165-170), but yes they do wear out, generally if you incert the key then push it up (towards the front of the bike) it'll turn.

Buying from a breakers is a bit hit & miss as you don't know how long before the set you buy is going to go the same way still if funds are a bit tight give it a go.

You'll need a security torx bit to remove the ignition lock, but the tank (phillips screw)and seat (spring clip) locks are straight forward.
