Re: Even I was young once...
Another one here whose father ran a consul. I briefly remember it, until it was replaced by a mk1 cortina, and then an Austin 1300 and Jaguar mk X. At that time my mother ran a herald. The Jag went to be replaced by a mk 2 cortina, followed by a mk 3. I was far too young to remember the actual model numbers.
My father was a consulting automotive engineer and claims assessor. Which meant we always seemed to have loads of cars. At one point we had over 30 queued up down the drive and it was us kids job to wash them and start them up every day. Both the austin 1300 and the cortinas mk2/3 were write offs that were re bodied. I can remember helping dad trim out the body swap of the austin in about 65 and getting Evostick all over my hair from where he had applied it to fit the roof lining.
Oh happy days. I wish I had some photos of that era. My parents took loads. I just don't know where they went. I think my mother would have destroyed any with his picture in (Evil old witch) I only have one photo of my dad taken about 10 years ago. I am going to have to ask his widow
