theres an art to using a map. Its all in the pre planning. You get your map, work out your route. Then you write down the road numbers names etc, with junction detials, Turn left etc. Then tape the littel list to the tank, and only use the map for emergencies. None of this sat nav malarkey
Other than that, what has been said above. Run a couple a live wire from the numberplate light to the front of the bike (And yes its fine to raise the tank to get underneath) connect one of the wires the Positive to this wire, then the other to a sutible crew/bolt on the frame. Im sure that theres someone around your area that can give you a hand.
