Default Braided hoses

Hi everyone. I'm on a technical war path today (also posted about a fueling problem in the megathread and offered some advice to hovis).

Ok, my front brakes are crap. There is alot of movement at the lever before anything significant happens when braking. Yesterday my dad bled the brakes using a vacum system, but no change in the otheral performance. I'm thinking that perhaps alot of the inital lever pulling is used to also expand the rubber hoses aswell as push the pads against the disc.

So, my question:

Is it worth investing in braided hoses to improve braking performance and feel at the lever? How much of an improvment (if any!) will I gain from such a modification?

Thanks,

Matt
