What chain will vary on who you talk to like nost things people have their own preference. LAst coupe of chains i fitted have been izumi chains, as for sprockets just get steel ones like tim says. I previuosly fitted a Renthal hard anodised rear sprocket and it was rubbish, the teeth hooked over pretty quickly.
There's not many tools you need to swap the c&s a big sprocket for the front sprocket nut, a paddock or abba stand and some sockets. I don't know about other chains but the izumi comes with a rivet link and a spring clip link, ideal for fitting the chain and then going to a dealer for them to rivet it properly
