I was out and about for a good hour, from torrential to spitting to no rain ... it got nothing more than the odd spot on it
As long as you are 'on the move' you are ok ... the only time it is potentially problematic is when you stop and the water comes down ...
I am sure it could be placed/covered in a clear plastic bag with little effort
