If you dont have MS word, the I'd reccomend downloading OpenOffice (free).
Click this link, for the windows version of openoffice. http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org...&version=2.4.1

Then you can do your writing and add a picture by selecting "Insert > Picture > From File" from the main menu bar.

Simple!
