Spiderman (Zig) and I pootled off around the South West last week.
This is what we did:
Day 1 (Monday): London to Porlock (Somerset)
Started off with a traditional hearty English lunch. Okay, it was McDonalds on the Target roundabout in West London - but we hadn't set off from our meeting point on the North Circular until about 1:30pm. We're not morning people. And we weren't in a hurry. We were on holiday

.
Day 2 (Tuesday): Porlock (Somerset) to St Ives (Cornwall)
We'd arrived in Somerset on Monday night in the rain, found a great B&B, and woke up to some lovely sunshine on Tuesday morning.
If you look carefully, you can see a robin (being shy and hiding its red boob) perching on the grab rail of my bike. Cute birdy.
It flew away; but not before pooping on my bike. Bad birdy.
Watch out ladies - Spiderman's about!
After going up the legendary 1:4 Porlock Hill (and back down again, of course) - we took the scenic road from Porlock heading west along the coast towards Lynmouth and into Devon.
How thoughtful of the local council to provide a bus shelter, of house-like proportions, on the top of Exmoor. Ideal for popping into to put on waterproofs (though by the time you've done it, the sun's out again).
Day 3 (Wednesday): St Ives - Land's End - Lanlivery (nr St Austell)
We'd rolled up to a rather grand hotel on Tuesday night. This is what we saw on Wednesday morning... the grounds of our hotel:
Amazingly, they let some biker scum stay there. Zig loads up his mighty steed:
Heading along the northern coast of Cornwall from St Ives to Land's End:
Who is this scary man who's following me everywhere?
Note to self: when parking to take a pretty picture, make sure that you can get your fully-loaded bike off the sidestand without Zig having to get off his bike to give you a push upright.
It's the end of the land!
Heading back eastwards along the south coast of Cornwall:
Who needs a tripod for a self-timer shot when you've got a very steep bit of road?
The weather turned as we headed up over Dartmoor:
Day 4 (Thursday): Lanlivery (nr St Austell) to somewhere in mid-Devon
Erm, it rained, we rode for hours. I don't think I took any photos!
Oh yes, this one - especially for Mr Toad... following his recent advice, we asked if we could stay overnight here - but they said no.
Day 5 (Friday): somewhere in mid-Devon to London
It rained. A lot. The River Exe was verrry swollen:
After some muddy, mossy, slippy, slidey back roads, we headed for home.
Frith Street to be precise, just in time to catch the end of the weekly Soho Massive meet.
Okay, so we're no Ewan & Charlie. But we had FUN!
