Debate at work..
Wondering on your thoughts about this..
We were talking motorsport as we usually do, and it came on to a certain Mr Hamilton, who lives in Switzerland.
One person was staunchly of the opinion that as he is no longer living in britain and not paying taxes in britain, that he should not be allowed to compete as British. No other reason, just that he didn't pay tax here.
My arguments went unheeded... If you were earning mega millions and it was within reach and practical to do so, I'm fairly sure a good few of us here would move elsewhere and pay less tax. After all, you earn your money and don't want to give half of it away..
The person arguing this also has said numerous times that he couldn't go from self employed to on the books- he wouldn't want to pay all that tax..
Aside from that, it'd be a quick way of disowning a good portion of British people competing at the highest level.
What thinks you, org?
