Default Re: SV650 Sport Dead Battery

you need to identify the cause of the flat battery. Do you ride the bike regularly or does it spend lots of time being stood and not ridden, has it got an alarm on it thats draining the battery over time ?

If you ride it regularly and the battery still goes flat then it might be that its not charing properly. Search for threads on Regulator / Rectifier failing, its quite common for it to go and the battery to not charge. But you really need to check the charging cicuit with a multi-meter.

It could also be that your battery has just reached the end of its life. Its not un heard of for the sealed GEL batteries to not recover from being drained totally flat...

Personally I'd be looking at investing in an Optimate, that you can leave conncected to the bike when you're not using it and it keeps the battery topped up. Also Optimate claim that it will recover a completely flat battery. I managed to use it to get one battery to come back to life, but the one in my GSXR was fubared after being sat all winter with the bike not being used and it wouldnt take a charge, let alone hold one.

Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.
