My PC was 18 months old and still ran Crysis at High settings at 1660x1050, ran HL2 with ease maxed out and pretty much any other game you care to mention. Don't fall for the hype that a 6 month old machine is outdated. Build your own system and it'll last two years easy and still beat most consoles in the GFX dept.
I know have 2 4870 X2's in Crossfire. The limiting factor is now heat dissipation!

built my own ok it lasted longer than 6 months but no way near the value of a console higher start price lower life for minor graphic benefits i cant see the benefit so i dont bother now this latest pc ive got will be the last i have for a while
