You don't need a chip anymore. There are programs which you can download onto an SD card, put in the wii, copy, hey presto. Do a search for wiigator loader.

I meant to say, i run this loader (as well as others) on my wii for playing my backups. The only thing you have to remember (for the moment) is not to accept/install any new updates from nintendo once you are running the loader.
