Baph,It sounds by your description that it would more than likely be a clearway which would exonerate Mrs LC to a good degree but if it was me I would be down there early on a sunny morning and get photographs of any relevant signs and the road layout to forward to my insurance company. A few good photos can be clearer to the insurance than a thousand words.
Sorry again LC but I couldn't understand why you were so puzzled at the beginning,but following that description I now see how you could have doubts.
GET PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE JUNCTION AND SIGNS
and make it simple for the insurance
