Default Re: Good dog trainer needed

I'm so glad it's all going so well Shelly.

I have seen that all that have posted on this thread have dogs or love dogs and so wanted to share something with you.

I have just, on another forum, been made aware of a video in america showing dog abuse. Two men, smacking a springer spaniel puppy around the face, then repeatedly banging him against the floor, throwing him against the wall and I don't even want to say more than that.

Immediately, I saved the video to my computer and forwarded it to the SPCA head office in America and the american police dog association, asking them to forward it to the relevant local police department.

About half an hour after I did this, so many people had hit the "report abuse" link below the video and the video was deleted, so when some of these people tried forwarding it to authorities, they could not view it.

I have been contacted by the American Police dog association who thanked me and informed me that the video has been forwarded to the relevant department after tracing it through IP addresses that they had to demand off Myspace and that the Local Florida police department and SPCA centre were now putting together a case to take before a judge in order to arrest those involved and gain an order to take custody of the dog and any other animals in the care of the abusers.

My point is this......

I thought it would be obvious that things like this need to go straight to the authorities that actually have the power of arrest/rescue. Unfortunately, many seemed to think that by hitting the "report abuse" link, that Myspace would be able to take action to save the dog.

This is what the American police dog association told me:-

"When enough users report abuse to social sites like Myspace, Yahoo, facebook etc, the site has a responsibility to remove the content and they have a responsibility to keep a record of that content. They also have a responsibility to report, with any evidence, any cruelty or abuse.
Unfortunately, it is left to the discretion of the individuals that remove the video/image/text to make that report.
In this case, Myspace had removed the video, kept a record as they are required to, but had deemed it unecessary for further action and so it was not passed to the police."

They also thanked me for saving the video to my computer as otherwise, they would not have seen the link and would likely have filed the report, but done little or nothing about it.

I have now deleted this video as I never want to see it again and they already have the evidence they need, but to anyone out there that ever sees anything like this, PLEASE just save it and send it to the proper authorities rather than report it to the host site and risk the evidence being filed away in some server in the back of beyond!

Cheers folks!
