Default alarm draining out battery

My alarm has been constantly draining the battery. (datatool - don't get it if anyone is considering).

Anyway, A friend told me that after a good long ride the battery would charge its self enough and shouldnt cause bother. So i jump started the bike from a Vauxhall Zafira and rode it for about an hour, dual carriageway and london roads. In the evening of that day (yesterday) the battery was dead again. The lights would come on but the engine wont start.

Earlier on that day I went with this same mate to Sevenoaks to get a Honda Horne (2002). The seller had the same alarm and the same problem. He said he was so fed up with the hassle of needing to charge it again he just got a heavy duty battery.

Has anyone else had this problem and how did they solve it? To be honest I'm not that fussed about having an alarm so i'm happy to disconnect it. Having said that I doubt my bike has ever had a battery change. I Feel inclined to the Hornet sellers solution.

What do you guys reckon, what should be my solution?

P.s. I was told Hornets are really quick. I didint think it was that quick when i test rode it! (just in case anyone was wondering)
