Not really, my Z750 had over 14k and it was fine. Even was running Castrol Car oil in it which also gave no ill effects.
Does it do it in all gears? Can you replicate it by putting the bike on a paddock stand and seeing if you can pinpoint where it's coming from? Could be wheel bearings at the back? Something lose? I'm not sure.
