Running a wider chain on a narrower sprocket is not a good idea. Don't do it on an SV. All sorts of wear/stress issues. Easy to get the right one.
I've done it before now, but only as a last resort (fitted a Triumph Tiger Cub engine with a 3/16" sprocket in a Rickman Micro Metisse with a 1/4" Rickman special rear wheel sprocket, and ran a 1/4" chain, ideally needed to fabricate a 1/4" engine sprocket but Cubs never had them as standard and it is a sprocket with a hub, not a flat plate so would need fabricating/welding and you have to split the engine cases completely to change the sprocket, just too much hassle for a small "toy" bike).
