Default Re: Problems with my data tool system 3

Hi shakie,

I have recently disassembled / reassembled my SV's Datatool Alarm. The Datatool box itself on my bike is located underneath the pillion seat. There are four small screws that hold the lid of the datatool box together, you will require a torque screw head device to remove it. An allen key head will not work, don't apply too much torque or the heads will round off. When the lid comes off you will find a 9v battery which powers the device. It also gets charged off the bike's battery. Firstly plug in a new 9v battery to check the system. Don't set about removing the speaker as it is unlikely to have stopped working, given mine is 9 years old.

check your keys fobs, as one of mine doesnt work properly and i had to reset it - doesnt set the alarm properly. You may have got the ownership manual for the alarm and that gives more details as to what the buttons do on the alarm.

generally, if you hit the triangle it 'deactivates' the alarm - for servicing or ferry crossings etc. if you press the circle once, the indicators should flash twice, and bleep accordingly - alarm active. press it again they flash and bleep once - alarm inactive.

I had the same prob as you when i got my bike to find out i was pressing the wrong buttons - reading the manual solved it!

hope this helps
