No there is a seperate sensor which turns off the fuel pump. not neccessarily to stop the engine, but IMO, to stop it dumping a tank full of fuel over the road in double quick time.
The handlebar kill switch is totally manual
I don't ever use my KS, but loads of people regularly do without ill effect I believe, Dave.
