Sky Player - JESUS CHRIST!!!
Caught a tech article today about Sky Player being integrated into Windows 7 Media Center
"Awesome", I thought, "I can watch Road Wars upstairs" - sweeeeet
So, lulled into a false sense of security I waded into pretty much my first legitimate content experience for god knows how long...*
Suffice to say it's now 90 minutes later and I'm back where I started
How they can get away with making something so complicated to install is beyond me, after registering a new sky account and linking it with our viewing card number it took a good half hour to find the bloody download that still doesn't integrate with WMC, then it turns out even though we pay sky every month for our packages that all means jack **** and we have to subscribe to multiroom ("only" £5.00/month) in order to download programs with Sky Player
Erm, how about FU*K YOU Sky, if it's this bloody difficult I'd rather not bother
To put this in perspective while I was wrestling with Sky's hopeless shambles I had an email notifier telling me that my Mininova RSS feed had been updated, the new episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and South Park have been uploaded, in order to download them I click once on the email link and the torrent file saves automatically where uTorrent grabs it and automatically downloads my show, when it's finished it'll pop up a notification that I need to click only once, then open the newly downloaded file which is saved in a format anyone can play and that lasts forever
The entire process takes 1hr from start to finish including the download time, and in that time I spend ~10 seconds actively directing it, the rest happens automatically...
*Actually that's a lie, I do occasionally use BBC Iplayer and 4oD
