Curvy is what people refer to the 99-2002(ish) models as and pointy is what people call the k3+ models (bar that naked 2009 thing). 'S' or 'faired' are the faired ones with the plastics and screen and just naked or 'n' for the nakeds.
I think it's a bit of a mess about to convert but you could ask liamsimpson (aslo in chesterfield actually) as I know he did it recently.

Pointy is the term used for bikes made from 2003 onwards. you can get "pointy" naked bikes.
As for converting a naked to a faired. I'm no expert but I think it would be easier and cheaper to buy a faired on in the first place. to convert you would have to replace lights, handlebars, top yoke, probably a lot more than you'd think
