I sincerely doubt that the 0.2V difference caused your problem, and also raises the question of how you measured it - 5.2V open circuit will most likely drop to 5V or below under load, due to internal resistance in the source. Even batteries vary by more than 0.2V over their charge cycle, and also with varying temperatures.
I would expect a car socket to go even higher than the SV's, as I believe cars tend to charge at a slightly higher voltage than bikes, which is why they recommend jump starting a bike from a car with the car engine off, or else the reg/rec gets fried.
