He said the same as you and the Hyosungs are plentiful over there, so i would imagine parts wont be too bad if needed.
After have a look today I suggested the Honda VTR250, he needs reliability really as he doesnt get paid loads so is skint most of the time.

They're nice - kind of this mini-monster! But second hand, they go around the $5k mark. These would hold their value pretty well. Forget the gixxer250 they are few and far between. CBR250 is also nice and probably the best on price/reliability. A lot of them about as well. Also

All of them are about the same price and a lot to choose from.

Like the guy says - not great for a learner, but $4500! This is what I'm on the look out for at the moment.
