Viney -I did a tour of Devon/Cornwall a few years ago - A396 from Exeter up to Minehead is a nice bit of road.
We then took the coast road to Lands End (stopped at Newquay for chips/icecream), and came back along the south coast.

The owner is a fruitcake, loves bikes, and only painted the place red/pink to annoy the locals
Pub just down the road which does good beer/cider, and good food.
