Snow chains are only legal in the uk providing they don't damage the road surface and looking at the original post these are more like ice breaker chains than snow chains.BMW.s are single side arm and the buckles are on the open side so as the SV is double sided there is a chance they could foul the swing arm .
Snow chains will not keep you upright as they are designed for forward momentum so if you do start to go sideways they are not a lot of help
