Default Nostalgic biking thoughts

Just reading and contributing to this thread HERE it reminder me of the day I got my first bike.

No one in my family was (or is) a biker but I used to work with a guy who had a Suzi GT250 Ramair. I lived in Rush Green, Romford, just around the corner from Johns of Romford and sitting out the front of the showroom was a Suzi TS90 for £180. I loved the look of the bike and mope'd around work for a few weeks dreaming of it until my boss took pity and lent me the cash interest free deducted from my wages. So one wet, dark January night in 1976 off I went to the showroom and brought it. I was 17 and had just passed my car test. Out came the Norwich Union insurance pad (anyone remember them?). Name, address and ticks in the TPF&T and up to a certain cc boxes I was ready. I had a second hand helmet and got handed the single key. It then dawned on me that I had never actually ridden a bike before but got on, started it and spent the whole night riding around and putting petrol in it.

Oh happy day's.

The suzi GT250 that I mentioned earlier became my second bike and I was still on those everlasting L plates.

Anyone else want to share?
