Thanks for the prompt, clear and helpful answer. I'll get straight onto those links now.
Maybe it's me, but I thought that the ACU site in particular would have a huge, obvious header to the affect of 'HOW TO GET YOUR RACING LICENCE - STEPS ONE TO THREE - HERE', rather than having to trawl through the regs, maybe to encourage people, rather than put obstacles up!
