Only slightly... if people didn't have to drive so far from the only house they can afford to a job miles and miles away, fuel prices wouldn't bite so hard. I remember I used to be able to walk to work, hardly used the car. I then had a train pass (TOC employee) and got the train free, at least. Now even if I had a pass (not any more) public transport wouldn't get me to work in time for my hours. We've built a lovely house of straw for ourselves based on being able to drive everywhere, and now it's biting us in the bum.
