Now, bearing in mind the holder set of an Arai is specifically designed to keep the visor and mechanism on the helmet in the event of a crash, that was concerning, so I checked the lining...it was covered in big cracks and dips, especially around the top of the head. It was worn down to such an extent he'd had to have the pads from the helmet the size up put in to compensate. It would have given him all the impact protection of a cardboard hat, and yet he wasn't interested in getting something new.

That's racers for you, bloody pikeys the lot of them. If it won't make the bike faster or handle better they won't spend money on it, and that extends to kit too.
